October 27th, 2012 - Wells Motorsports headed south over the weekend for the 9th Annual Southern Belle Cotton Pickin' 100 at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). The $15,000-to-win event attracted a stellar field of sixty-three competitors to the 3/8 mile oval, and in qualifications on Friday night Eric registered the fastest time in Group B in his #18 Bloomquist/Roush Yates Racing Engine Super Late Model. As a result he earned the pole for his heat race, but mechanical problems in his heat race relegated him pitside.

His heat race struggles left him pinned deep in a b-main on Saturday night, and he failed to reach a transfer spot. However, Southern Belle Apparel sponsored two randomly selected starting spots for the feature, and he was awarded with one as he started in the twenty-fifth starting spot. Despite starting on the tail of the field he mounted a great charge through the pack in the finale on his way to a ninth place finish at the checkered flag. Full results are available at

1October 20th, 2012 - Eric concluded the 2012 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) season over the weekend with the 32nd Annual Red Buck Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth Raceway Park (Portsmouth, Ohio). The $50,000-to-win event attracted 94 competitors to the facility, but Mother Nature would intervene on Friday evening as persistent showers forced the program to be condensed into a single event on Saturday. In time trials Wells qualified eighteenth fastest in his group to earn the sixth starting spot in the third heat race. With the top three finishers moving onto the feature Wells finished fifth, which relegated him to a b-main. After starting third in the b-main Eric advanced to a second place finish to lock into the twenty-third starting spot for the 100 lap finale. Early in the event Wells passed several cars before the track began to take rubber, and he settled into a thirteenth place finish. Wells finished tenth in the final LOLMDS standings.

1October 13th, 2012 - The annual Fall 50 was held on Saturday night at Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky) as twenty-seven Super Late Model competitors converged on the 1/2 mile oval for the unsanctioned event. With a $5,000 winner's check on the line Eric began his night by finishing third in his heat race. Via passing points he locked into the third starting spot for the main event and would battle in the top five throughout the feature before crossing the finish line in the second spot behind race winner, Kent Robinson. 1October 10th, 2012 - Wednesday night found Eric in action at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in a $10,000-to-win event with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model tour. Forty-five competitors registered for action, and Wells began his night by charging to the win in the second heat race to earn a spot in the redraw for the feature. The redraw would be kind to him as it presented Wells with the pole starting spot for the main event with Dale McDowell starting alongside. As the race went green Wells fell into second behind McDowell, but Eric's night would quickly come to an end on lap 9 with mechanical issues. He was scored with a disappointing 22nd place finish.
