Friday night's program would get postponed until Saturday afternoon due to Mother Nature as 59 entries competed in the $6,000-to-win race. Struggles in time trials left Eric starting deep in his heat race grid, and while he missed the transfer by one spot from his heat race, a second place finish in his b-main locked him into the 23rd starting spot for the 30 lap preliminary feature. Passing would be difficult under daytime conditions, but Wells would manage to register a 16th place finish at the checkered flag. On Saturday evening the $30,000-to-win finale for the 7th Annual Firecracker 100 was held, and while Mother Nature again delayed the start of the program, finally it would be contested, and it would prove to be a terrible night for Eric. Via his performances on the preliminary nights he started on the pole of his heat race, but would fade backwards to a sixth place finish. As a result he was relegated to a b-main, and would again fail to reach a transfer spot. He utilized a series' provisional to start the feature in the 25th position. Late in the event he was running in the top ten, when disaster struck as he flipped out of turn three. Luckily he would only receive minor bumps and bruises as his night came to an end in the 12th position. Full results from the weekend and complete series' standings are available at www.WoOLMS.com. June 25th, 2013 - Eric made his debut at the big, 1/2 mile oval at Canandaigua Motorsports Park (Canandaigua, New York) Eric is currently tied for seventh in the latest series standings and leads the rookie of the year battle. Twenty-four entries were on hand for the program, and after qualifying second fastest in time trials Eric finished second in his heat race to Chub Frank to earn a spot in the redraw for the 50 lap finale. In the redraw he received the fourth starting spot. With passing being difficult in the feature Wells maintained his position throughout the feature to record a fourth place finish behind race winner, Tim McCreadie, Dan Stone, and Billy Decker. Eric earned Rookie of the Race honors for his performance. Thursday evening took the team to Brighton Speedway (Brighton, Ontario, Canada) for another $10,000-to-win, WoO program. Eric started his night by blazing to fast time honors around the 1/3 mile oval with a 13.753 second lap. Via his qualifying effort he earned the pole for the first heat race, but bad luck would strike as he was penalized for jumping the initial start, and as a result had to start third. He would go on to finish third, which positioned him starting ninth on the feature grid. Early in the 50 lapper he raced in the top ten before slipping to a thirteenth place finish. After a two night break the team invaded Cornwall Motor Speedway (Cornwall, Ontario, Canada) on Sunday evening for a $10,000-to-win slate. A field of twenty-seven competitors were on hand for the program, and via preliminary action Wells earned the fifteenth starting spot for the 50 lap feature. He passed three cars in the finale to record a twelfth place finish. Eric is currently seventh in the latest series standings and leads the rookie of the year battle.
