1February 25th, 2017 - On Monday Eric Wells headed to Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) for the opening night of the UMP DIRTcar Nationals. In a field of 43 cars, Eric started the night off by laying down the fastest time overall in qualifying. Scoring a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Chris Madden, Eric earned the 6th-starting position for the main event. Hanging on to a Top 10 spot, Wells slipped up three positions in the 30-lapper recording an 8th place finish.

1With continuous rain cancelling both Wednesday and Thursday night’s program, Eric was one of 48 Super Late Models signed in on Friday for the final two events sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series. Timing in second quick in his group behind Shane Clanton, Eric charged to a heat race victory from the pole positon sending him into the redraw. Receiving the 6th-starting spot, Wells jumped into the Top 5 into the beginning stages after battling through very limited visibility. Moving into a podium spot, Eric Wells landed a 2nd place spot behind Shane Clanton after the race was shortened on lap-23 due to severe fog. Tim McCreadie, Rick Eckert, and Brian Shirley completed the Top 5 finishers.

1For the final night of the DIRTcar Nationals on Saturday, Wells registered the fastest time overall in qualifying but came in light at the scales sending him to the tail of his heat race. Logging a 8th place finish, Eric transferred into the B-Main for another shot at the $10,000-to-win finale. Failing to place in the Top 3, Wells was granted a provisional into the 40-lap feature. Charging through the field 16 positions, Eric Wells reeled in an impressive 8th place spot.

1February 18th, 2017 - Eric Wells kicked off the 2017 racing season on Friday at Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia) for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series season-opener. Drawing 44 Super Late Models for the two-day Winter Freeze VII, Eric followed up the second fastest time in his qualifying group with a heat race victory. Receiving the pole position for the A-Main after the redraw, Wells suffered a broken right-front ball joint during pace-laps forcing him to pull off.
